Children behave and misbehave for a multitude of reasons. As parents, we tolerate our children’s misbehavior for short periods of time understanding that some misbehavior is normal and will quickly pass.

However, some children misbehave for prolonged periods of time, or in ways that are dangerous, self-injurious or so repetitious that it impairs their ability to function and the adult’s ability to parent. In these instances, a thorough diagnosis to understand the cause and context is necessary before the appropriate remedy can be applied.
