| When testing procedures are applied to school related issues, it is often to assess learning style, strengths and weaknesses and to rule out a potential learning disability. Often, testing for students with learning difficulties is administered on a regular basis to provide an ongoing record of progress.
When children are changing schools, test data is often required to facilitate placement in the right program or classes. Many schools and programs require cognitive and achievement test data as part of their admissions process.
Dr. Steve Newton and the associates at PlusFour Solutions specialize in working with school-aged children. We utilize the most up to date test instruments to assess your child. Testing is accomplished in a quiet, stress-free environment with a qualified professional. Every effort will be made to maximize your student's experience. Often, testing is spread over several sessions, but can also be accomplished in one day, on an urgent or emergency basis.
Test instruments are chosen to be developmentally and age appropriate. Home and school visits are conducted when such information is a necessary part of the assessment process. Our goal is to tailor the assessment process to the unique needs relative to your child and his or her family. We do this with every child. There is no "cookie-cutter" or generic process here, where one set of procedures fits all children. Your student will be fully evaluated using only the tests and procedures necessary to answer the questions that lead to the evaluation. We spend significant time with each student and take pride in our ability to clinically individualize each test battery.
The associates at PlusFour Solutions have experience working with local schools and school districts. We attend IEP meetings, 504 strategy meetings and Student Study Team meetings on a regular basis. We help teachers, aides and administrative staff understand test data and the special needs of your student. We help teachers and staff design individualized procedures and accommodations for your child.
Test data will be presented to parents and school professionals using the PlusFour Report System. This report style provides comprehensive test data in a report format that is widely recognized as the leader in written and digital presentations. While many psychological reports are little more than lists of test data with dry narrative, the PlusFour Report System utilizes cutting edge technology to present data with charts, graphs, digital photographs and the strategic use of color. The result is a report that is dynamic and highly informative.
PlusFour Solutions provides for all of your educational testing needs. Whether your needs are relative to school readiness, changing schools, assessing learning style or diagnosing learning disabilities; we can help. Our associates are skilled at the assessment of both language based and non-verbal learning disabilities. We routinely use such instruments as the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Fourth Edition (WISC-IV), Woodcock-Johnson Cognitive or Achievement Battery (WJ III), Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT2), Kaufman Short Neuropsychological Assessment Procedure (K-SNAP) and the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (K-ABC). Other tests of reading, memory, learning and mathematics are used as necessary. Assessments are tailored to the individual needs of each student and provide targeted data with which to make informed decisions and placements.
